The UWV (the National Institute for Employee Insurances and Regulations) has published a new version of the ‘Werkwijzer Poortwachter’, a guide for employers to help them with the reintegration of employees who return from long-term sick leave. Organizations are highly advised to adopt the guide in their reintegration procedure. ‘Werkwijzer Poortwachter’ gives employers, occupational health physicians and others involved up-to-date information and guidelines on the reintegration of ill or work-disabled employees. Moreover, the guide also provides insurance doctors and labor experts with useful information about how to properly assess the effort an organization has put in reintegration.
The new version of the ‘Werkwijzer Poortwachter’ was published on June 1, 2021 and contains various adjustments and improvements as to earlier versions. For example, the new guide has been adjusted to changes in the ‘Wet Arbeidsmarkt in Balans’ (Labor Market in Balance Act), now containing up-to-date information on the requirements for payroll employers in reintegration.
Quick Start Guide
To help organizations adopt the information and guidelines in the ‘Werkwijzer Poortwachter’, UWV has also published a Quick Start Guide listing the steps which must be taken as well as emphasizing the different responsibilities.
